"A tale of the American dream thwarted by a nightmare of convergence and connectivity. This is a gripping book with compelling characters set into play by an interesting mind. I love its wit, intelligence, cleverness."

“Emergence” is a watchword in today's science headlines, as a new understanding of the development of everything from stars to human bodies has taken hold. That from chaotic groups of interacting nodes, startlingly complex and adaptive organisms can arise, from our earliest ancestors rising from primitive bacteria colonies, to the World Wide Web arising from military labs.
As citizens roam at jet speed and cellphones connect the world, what new form of human society is rising?
An MIT scientist discovers a way to model it—and to manipulate its development. But he is brutually murdered by a mysterious off-shoot of an American intelligence agency. They aren’t trying to stop his work—they want it for themselves, to create a new social technology. Something they mean to give the whole world. For “free…”
A satire couched in a thriller, the novel packs subtle fun at the monolithic power of modern Capitalism, from corporate owned media to the military industrial complex. The story is also infused with intriguing riffs on neuroscience, emergence, the Singularity, and other cutting-edge topics of the day—and questions the extent that anyone, even our top scientists, understand any of it.
Customer Reviews of The Omega Point by Mark Mozden
It read as quick as a T-38!!!!
“Wow.... as a fan of both this book and it's author I assure you that you will find this book incredibly exciting. Fast moving is an understatment, this book flys!!!! Angles, twists, turns and never ending surprises, this book is like a dog fight. Mozden uniquely develops interesting characters and then winds them up into a non-stop read. Trust me you will love this book. Rex (not in the FBI) Heiby ex T-38 driver ”

Fast Paced Thriller
“Mark Mozden's The Omega Point is a fast paced thriller packed with thought provoking scientific theory and heart pounding action. It starts off going ballistic in one of NASA's training jets and the throttles never come out of afterburner. I read The Omega Point in two sittings with my wife wondering why I was still up – I simply couldn't put the book down. Well written and researched, this is book will take you on an amazing journey with surprising twists and turns. I loved it.”

Wow!
“The Omega Point was a completely absorbing read. I read it straight through the day it arrived and immediately started raving to my reading friends. As a free-lance editor, and someone who reads over 150 books a year, I don't give a book five stars lightly. This one earned it for having a hot story and a cool and insightful probe into human motives and delusions. I hope Mr. Mozden writes a sequel and soon.”

The Omega Point (Mark Mozden)
“I just finished The Omega Point, by Mark Mozden and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good, “in the moment/5 minutes in the future” thriller which explores how our technology and humanity conflict with the our senses of community vs capitalism.
I was hooked by the premiss and the characters within the first few pages and didn't put the book down until I had it done. Mozden proved adept at combining his background in science and experience as a military pilot in creating a truly entertaining read. I'm looking forward to next book!”

Cool Science Thriller!
“The Omega Point (the new book by Mark Mozden) is a thriller about social technology. The thriller part of it is like a tasty chocolate layer around a chewy interior that explores the way technology grants individuals greater powers of freedom and knowledge, but at the same time gives the State more ways to control us. The endpoint of this conflict, in the book, is a “Singularity–” but, and I don't want to give anything away here, a Singularity quite different from those seen by the technorati among us to date. The book asks serious questions, and the thriller plot with spies and sex scenes and all that is pretty wild, but there's definitely a tongue-in-cheek humor going on as well, it pokes some pretty good fun at a lot of cherished myths. It seems intended to both stimulate and provoke. I for one quite liked it! Best beach read in a while, and at least it's different from all the formulaic thrillers out there– it's about something more than just sex, money, power (repeat ad naseaum).”
